The James Marsters Interview By Couch Baron

Here There is a long and interesting interview of James about:
Buffy, Smallville,Without a trace, James's career in theater, music and his new album.

Couch Baron: You grew up in Modesto, a small inland town in Northern California.

James Marsters: Yeah. Good place to grow up. A lot of orchards and dirt roads.

CB: Nice. I see that you wanted to be an actor from a pretty young age.

JM: Yeah. From sixth grade.

CB: Did you eventually get a case of the small-town blues there? Were you dying to get out and pursue your dream?

JM: Uh…yeah! My father lived near San Francisco, and when I first saw San Francisco, I was like, I want to live in the city. I just liked that rhythm.

CB:
Did you go to theater down there?

JM: Yeah, I went to ACT, which is a really good theater on Geary Street. Byron Jennings was sort of there, Michael Winters was there -- that was a great, great company. In fact, they were so good that when I went to Broadway, I was like, "You know what, this is okay." Not that great, actually.

CB: Really! San Francisco was better.

JM: Yeah! I saw two complete seasons on Broadway, and I was like, I'm not seeing it. And I finally kind of came to the conclusion that Broadway was a for-profit market, and therefore the direction had to be a little simpler. I would see plays where I'd seen them in a not-for-profit theater, and they were more complex -- the same plays, same scripts. Good actors, on Broadway, but it just was simplified because it was a different market -- they're not trying to make art. They're trying to make money, and they want to widen the audience, I guess. more...

JAMES RETURNS TO SMALLVILLE

From jamesmarsters.com
James will be making his return to the world of Metropolis. The creators of Smallville have brought back his character for season six. The plan is to use his character in four new episodes this season. Stay tuned for future details.

From eonline a confirm that James come back to Smallville.

Just a little giddy good news to help ring in the new season of Smallville, which starts tomorrow night.

Reliable insiders tell me—and the CW confirms—that James Marsters (swoon, Buffy's Spike) is returning for four episodes of the superseries during the new season.

We last saw Marsters's character, Dr. Milton Fine (aka Brainiac), in Smallville's fifth season finale.

While it's unclear exactly how James is returning, I can tell you he's reprising the exact same character, he's returning to set very soon and his episodes begin airing in January. He also appears on CBS' Without a Trace this season.

'Tis good news, no? If you're happy and you know it, sound off in the Comments section below!

And don't forget to tune in to Smallville tomorrow night.

Q_A September

What do you think is the greatest musical instrument ever invented and why?
I think possibly the synthesizer. It used to take 100 - 500 years for a new instrument to assimilate itself into the orchestral, musical experience. They'd come up with a violin
and everyone would go crazy and the next 500 years would be all about how do we
incorporate the violin into our music. Now every new single that comes out has an
incredibly distinct, synthesized sound, which is tantamount to developing your own new musical instrument. That goes way past the best violinist anyone has ever heard because
even the best violinist that has been heard in 200 years is only playing the same instrument that's been played for 200 years and his song will sound very similar to the "hacks" that had preceded him. But the engineer that comes up with a new synthesized sound that has a human resonance, it's as if he's made a whole new instrument and the possibilities from
where I sit are endless. So, it's definitely keyboards, computers and synthesizers - and
that's really hard for a guitarist to admit.

What was the last play you saw?
I think it was The Master Builder by Ibsen starring Sir Ian McKellan. I didn’t enjoy it. It was
the last chance I gave my local theater company after being let down too many times before. continue...

News about Brainiac

From kryptonsite.com They talk about the news that James said to Dragoncon about His chance to return Smallville.

Quote:
--At a recent appearance, actor James Marsters revealed that a return to Smallville might be coming in his future.
It has been hinted by Smallville's creators that a foe from the past of Clark and Lex would be returning, and that they might have to work together to stop him - could Brainiac be it?
Right now Marsters is filming a story arc for the series Without A Trace, so it's likely that if he does return, it will be in the latter half of Season 7.

Stay tuned...
